A lifelong lover of gardens, I have been a garden and landscape designer for many years with happy clients and successful projects to my name throughout Auckland, Northland, Waikato and Taranaki. I help individuals, corporates and architects to create gardens and planting schemes that are right for them and their respective requirements.
Gardens are living spaces after all, needing care and specialist knowledge. My objective is to provide a considered garden, well proportioned, rich in plant form and sensitive to the space it occupies.
Architecture has always fascinated me also so I enjoy taking cues from the house or buildings and developing a design that resonates with the clients as well as the site.
The relationship I build with my clients is paramount to a successful and satisfying project for everyone involved. Listening to clients carefully and gathering an understanding of how they relate to and use their outdoor spaces is crucial. As a result the gardens we create together give long term pleasure and nourishment.
Home Garden Design
From small courtyard gardens to large estates, I can work with you to create a garden to suit your home and lifestyle. The design process starts with a conversation about how you want to live and feel in your garden.
Public and Commercial Spaces
Britomart - planting and pots designed with Damian Wendelborn for URBANite Landscape Design. A feminine approach with flowers and fruit and in-ground low natives in an area of downtown Auckland with women's designer clothing and shoes and exciting eateries.
An urban space surrounding the new precinct over the Auckland Railway Station by Cheshire Architects.
Once we have a concept design for a space it can only come to life with the right planting, fit for the style, position, and ongoing maintenance requirements. I love the process of selecting the right plants and can draw on many years of experience and a network of specimen suppliers.
Over the years I've definitely had my favourites - natives, cycads, groundcovers and exotic flowers - but every garden is different. That's what makes it so enjoyable, and how each garden becomes unique.
I relish the opportunity to combine plants and make beautiful patterns, textures and seasonal stories with plants.
